Not all countries have access to Facebook. Not all schools allow access to Facebook and for parental control, not all parents allow their children to use Facebook.

Are you one of the people who aren’t allowed to use Facebook due to restrictions set-up by your ISP or government? Well, you’re not alone because there are other people who are in the same situation as you.

But lucky for you, there are still effective methods you can actually use to unblock Facebook and connect with your families and friends online. In fact, you can do it for free permanently by using the following websites below:

Proxysite.com/Facebook

Our first in line is a web proxy that can access Facebook by bypassing your server and using their own to gain access. It’s not the safest way of accessing Facebook from a limited network but it’s the only straightforward method you can use without manually changing your IP or installing a VPN on your computer or device.

However, the problem you’ll encounter with this website is you get to access Facebook by default in a mobile format so you if you are accessing Facebook from a desktop computer, you will see a mobile version on your screen.

Another note to mention is that this website uses different servers you can use so when a server is blocked, you can use another server that might get a chance to crossover your restriction.

Proxysite.site/facebook

This is another web proxy you can use to unblock Facebook. This proxy site can help you use Facebook for mobile and desktop version unlike the one on our first list. However, the problem you’ll encounter with this proxy site is that by default, you’ll see a different language that is not English but you can change that manually on your browser for browser and mobile device.

Another important note to mention is that this website is full of ads. Whenever you click on Facebook while you’re in this web proxy, you’ll always get to click on pop up ads which don’t look safe and good experience for users.

Proxfree.com/facebook-proxy.php

If you will use this website, you need to copy or type the URL exactly as you see in the subtitle above, with .php. If you don’t, it won’t work and you’ll get a 404 respond. This website also gives access to Facebook even if your network wouldn’t let you due to restriction.

However, compared to the first two websites I mentioned, it uses different languages that you can choose from when you’re using this web proxy to unblock Facebook. Also, another thing to note is they use an ad frame that will reduce the space you’ll see when you visit Facebook. So you may have to click on their Ad from time to time.

Hidemyass.com/facebook-proxy

This is probably the most trusted Facebook proxy that you can use among all the websites I mentioned in this post. This website doesn’t have an annoying ad that you’ll accidentally click on as they prioritize their users than ads.

However, their server runs slow when you’re using their web proxy compared to the other proxy sites I mentioned above because their main method to unblock Facebook is through a VPN which is a premium service.

Another thing you must know is that their web proxy isn’t capable of registering for new accounts so you probably need to use your own existing Facebook account when you use their Facebook proxy site.

That’s it. A few Facebook proxy sites you can use to unblock Facebook.

The list below will give you enough reason why Facebook is blocked.

Facebook can be dangerous

You can’t blame a country, an organization or your parents when Facebook is blocked in your location. It’s just there’s a lot of things you can see on Facebook and these categories (country, organization, parents) can’t protect you from all the horrible things that you might encounter on Facebook.

Facebook consumes your time

Facebook is also easy to get attracted to. If you get addicted to using it, you’ll find yourself automatically choosing Facebook when you open your browser or when you open your mobile phone even if you have an important thing to do.

In fact, it’s your body that will automatically react to it as your mind tells you what to do habitually when you are on a computer or holding your mobile phone.

Facebook almost has all the information about you

Even if you do, believe it or not, Facebook has already obtained information about you and sometimes even more than you ever submitted to the app. Since Facebook store your information on a server, there’s is a little risk that people may hack in that server and leak all information in that server.

Although Facebook servers are adequately protected, there could still be some nasty method to penetrate their servers. Internally for example, which happened in 2018 when third party softwares got access to these servers.

There’s probably a lot more reasons you can add to this list why Facebook is blocked and how to unblock Facebook. Be sure to let me know of that.

Using proxy servers or web proxy are the most usual approach when unblocking websites prohibited in a limited network setup. You don’t need to install a VPN on your PC to change your IP and you don’t need to pay a premium service just  to unblock websites.

However, there are instances when proxy servers or web proxies aren’t enough to do the job. As a result, you will find yourself looking for another proxy server that can crack the website and make it available in your location. But it will probably take time before you can find one as there are so many of proxy servers out there and you need to try all of them one by one.

Clearly, there are VPNs available on the web that you can choose from but even VPNs get blocked and not a good sign for business use. So to give you alternative methods you can use rather than VPN, I searched the web for websites that provide premium proxy with reasonable monthly rate, easy to use, don’t get blocked, and no installation required on your end.

Oxylabs

Oxylabs offers premium proxy that appears to be untraceable and completely anonymous. According to Oxylabs, they have premium IP for all countries, cities on the globe so if you need an IP located in United Kingdom, they can give you a UK proxy. It may also appear that Oxylabs has the most largest collection of premium proxy they are offering to all their users and these premium IPs won’t get blocked.

What they guarantee:

  • Unique and Real IP address
  • No IP Ban
  • Global coverage of IP
  • Zero Captcha

Privateproxy.me

If you are not satisfied with a single premium proxy, Priavteproxy.me offers at least a minimum of 3 proxies for a single purchase starts from $9/month. All of their premium IPs can be used for any purpose such as email, videos or even on your smart TVs. Unfortunately, they don’t provide premium IPs to all countries but they mainly provide premium IP for United States and United Kingdom.

Another good thing about privateproxy.me is if the proxy you are using gets blocked or banned, they can swap that blocked proxy to a brand new one every month. You just need to email their customer service and let them know of the situation you are in.

What they guarantee:

  • Free swap of banned IP address per month
  • Unlimited bandwidth by default
  • Money back guarantee if their proxies don’t work

Instantproxies

If you are looking for premium proxy for web browsers, Instantproxies is probably the right one for you. This premium proxy provider brings you their strategic advantage with competitors by asking you of what purpose you need their proxies for. After that, you can aslo test if their proxies from 0-10 to 500 different proxies are working for that specific purpose.

Just a quick note. Every request you make on different purpose, their proxy list will change by default so don’t think they have limited proxies for Facebook, Youtube, Google etc because they don’t.

What they guarantee:

  • All of their proxies are 100% online
  • Previous 24 hours of their proxies are 100% up time

Smartdnsproxy

If you are looking for premium IPs that work with your smart TV to access Netflix, Hulu and other 400+ services, SmartDNSProxy is probably the one you need. SmartDNSProxy has servers for their DNS Proxy and VPN all over the web and it is advised that when you set up their proxy, choose the most closest to your physical location.

What they guarantee:

  • Faster than VPN
  • No software needed
  • Works Globally
  • Always Secure

Ninjasproxy

If you are looking for a shared premium proxy or premium proxy that changes every month, Ninjasproxy is the one right for you. They offer premium proxy from $0.60 to $2/month per proxy and they also offer proxies in bulk which are all anonymous

What they guarantee:

  • All are brand new IPs
  • IP refresh is done by default
  • Unlimited bandwidth

Ezproxies

Another proxy provider you might be interested in that also offer shared proxy is Ezproxies. What I don’t like about Ezproxies is you can’t buy an IP for yourself but always in bulk which is not applicable to some individuals. Also, if you want to verify first if their premium proxies will work on a specific website, you need to email them first to get an answer.

What they guarantee:

  • 24/7 support
  • Highly anonymous

Cost of Premium Proxy

Premium proxy aren’t cheap. You can purchase a premium proxy from 0.60/month per IP or you can buy in bulk. These premium proxies that you’ll get are 100% brand new, anonymous, high speed and secured connection as guaranteed by proxy providers mentioned above.

Should you buy a premium proxy

That totally depends on your needs. If you badly need a proxy for permanent use, I suggest you get one for yourself but if you don’t regularly access the internet, it’s probably not worth your money to buy a premium proxy.

The use of proxy or vpn is to unblock websites that aren’t allowed in your location but if you’ll only use access a website once, you don’t need to buy premium IP.

Final words

It’s your total discretion whether or not you will use a premium proxy or not. My ultimate goal here is to provide you a list of premium proxy you can choose from at your own risk ????

There’s a lot of proxy browsers out there you can choose from. However, not all of them provide the same service such as SSL encryption, speed of connection and even websites they can unblock for you. For instance, not all proxy browsers can play videos or allow you to access a social networking site. But CroxyProxy is an exemption and can do many things.

CroxyProxy is probably one of the fast proxy browsers that provide encrypted connection, plays videos, access search engines as exactly as you can do on a normal browser without using any programs to unblock a website or conceal your identity. In short, you won’t even feel that you are using a proxy when you’re using Croxyproxy.

CroxyProxy also provides a Google Chrome browser extension that doesn’t give you a numerical IP address but an alphanumeric combination also which more difficult to remember but easy to recognize as proxy server. In short, you can have both IPV4 and IPV6 address if you use Croxyproxy browser extension at the same time.

By default, a normal browser not in use of a Croxyproxy, you won’t have your IPV6 detected but you’ll have this identity when you are in use of Croxyproxy. A little treat for you when you use Croxyproxy extension. It’s probably too much information already for a free proxy but it offers a lot more which I will highlight in the later part of the article.

Croxyproxy Quick Links

To save you from the trouble of typing in the website address of a particular website you want to visit, Croxyproxy has already provided a proxy for the most visit websites on the web for your convenience. You just need to click on a text which appears as the name of the website you want to visit.

Different Language Options

Another benefit of Croxyproxy for foreign users is the option to change the default text content of Croxyproxy official website to their preferred language. If you are a Chinese and you don’t prefer English content, feel free to change it your way for better user experience when you’re using Croxyproxy.

Croxyproxy premium account

It’s not surprising that Croxyproxy will offer a premium account because of their popularity and credibility in providing a reliable, safe and fast web proxy on the web. Their premium proxy offers a complete ad-free browsing experience, different servers available, priority support and money back guarantee if you don’t feel like extending after 7 days of using their premium proxy.

Croxyproxy uses SSL Encryption

While most proxy also uses an SSL encryption such as Kproxy, Whoer, I should mention that Croxyproxy does not charge you any dime and runs by default. That said, you should not worry about the information you’re sending to Croxyproxy server because it’s totally secured and not open for everyone to see outside croxyproxy web server.

Croxyproxy Mirror Sites

Croxyproxy is a popular website, cheap, and reliable web proxy out there so you might encounter Croxyproxy mirror sites that look exactly the same as their official website. I don’t suggest to use these mirror sites because I don’t see any announcement on the official website of Croxyproxy of having published, monitored or maintained such websites.

But I also don’t claim that they are not connected or affiliated to Croxyproxy website. If you feel that using a mirror site won’t put you in danger, be my guest but there’s an official website you can use.

List of Croxyproxy Mirror Sites:

  1. croxyproxy.rocks
  2. croxy.red/torrent

When it comes to browsing the web anonymously, what comes up in your mind first?

A VPN?

A web proxy or

Proxy IP address?

There’s a lot right. And I haven’t mentioned TOR Browser yet.

For many, it’s pretty straightforward if they’ll use free proxy web browser because it does the trick in just a couple of clicks in a matter of secs. If you know a proxy site already, it would have been a lot easier to access websites that are restricted to be accessed from your network. In fact, online proxy browser nowadays are ballooning and you just need to find a good one that will satisfy your needs.

Because not all proxy sites are created equal.

That’s right. I’ve encountered a lot of proxy sites that aren’t very good at all in terms of performance and so you need to avoid these sites before you get frustrated with their service. There are proxy sites that are able to give you high anonymity level, play videos, click external links and less annoying. If you haven’t used a proxy site at all, here are the things that will not satisfy your needs.

  • Excessive Ads
  • An annoying frame that’s blocking half portion of your screen
  • Unable to play videos
  • Unable to visit external links without disclosing your original IP address
  • Slow data transfer from a proxy site server to your browser

If you encounter any of the issues I mentioned above, you probably got a low-quality proxy site and you need to find a better one for a better browsing experience. But finding a better one may consume your time and as a result, you may lose your interest in using a proxy site to bypass a network and unblock a website. I feel you right there.

So I did the hard work myself and looked for proxy sites that you can use to potentially bypass your network and unblock Youtube. I also provided a few information you might be interested in such as if a proxy site can play youtube or contains iFrame.

But before we get to that, here’s a fun fact you may want to know:

Why websites are being blocked – It’s a good question. There are a lot of answers to that but it always depends on the set of restriction a country, company or organization has. For instance, schools don’t allow accessing Facebook from their network so, in order to break that restriction, you try to find alternative methods to bypass their network.

Is accessing a blocked website illegal – One thing is for sure. As long as you are not distributing copyrighted materials, you are not committing a crime. It’s just a restriction and you’re not required to answer the law.

Now, to the free anonymous web browser list.

Zalmos Proxy

Zalmos pretty much got everything you need. Zalmos encrypt all your web activities to make sure no one else can identify the websites you visit on the web. Apart from encryption, Zalmos also use SSL certificates which protects the data transfer from your end to another server. If you also worry about your logs, they don’t keep your logs and it’s burned to ashes right after you close your browser so it will look like you never access a restricted website through Zalmos.

Server: France, Netherland
Play Videos: Yes
Frame: No
External Link: Yes
Encryption: Yes

Croxyproxy

Next on our list is probably known by a lot of people. It provides the same service as Zalmos but Croxyproxy has a Google Chrome extension you can use without accessing directly the croxyproxy website. While I mentioned earlier that proxy sites are entirely free, Croxyproxy has premium service you can try for 30days without any cost which will remove the frame

The downside of Croxyproxy is it takes a while to launch its proxy and when you load pages, it’s not as fast as Zalmos so you’ll have to wait for at least 5 seconds max.

Server: Undisclosed
Play Videos: Yes
Frame: No
External Link: Yes
Encryption: Yes

Kproxy

Another proxy site you might cross path with is Kproxy. At first, I thought their web proxy works better the same way their chrome extension but it did not. Kproxy works best as an extension or add-on but you will be disappointed if you decide to use their web proxy.

Here’s why:

  • Their web proxy takes a while to launch, same as Croxyproxy.
  • Kproxy does not support search engines
  • Kproxy servers have problems with video playing

You can load Youtube website, see clips but when you play a video, it won’t load anymore. Maybe it’s just a server problem I encountered but I tried a few times on their server9 and 6 and none of them worked.

Server: Undisclosed
Play Videos: No
Frame: Yes
External Link: No
Encryption: Yes

4everProxy

Another proxy site that plays video is 4everProxy. In fact, this proxy site offers a lot of features. You can choose different web servers from their list, IP location, you can choose whether to remove page title or scripts, allow cookies or even encrypt a particular page manually. However, 4everProxy has an annoying frame that covers a larger part of the page which requires you to scroll down in order to minimize 4everProxy frame.

Server: Different locations
Play Videos: Yes
Frame: Yes
External Link: Yes
Encryption: Yes

Veripn

Next on our proxy site list is nothing but plain and a simple one. It supports everything from accessing emails, searching on Google and even playing videos on Youtube. It’s a transparent proxy which basically acts as an intermediary proxy server between the user and the content provider assigned to do one task only which is to intercept your requests.

Server: Canada
Play Videos: Yes
Frame: No
External Link: Yes
Encryption: Yes

Another good feature of VeriPN is you can use it on your TV and access websites that are not allowed to be played in your location. They also provide customer support for their subscribers whenever a technical assistance is required. Yes, although VeriPN is a premium proxy site, they also do provide freemium service you can try in the beginning.

That’s it.

You might be wondering why I didn’t include those top leading sites in Google SERPs when you search for proxy sites. The thing is, checked one by one all those proxy sites but none of them were able to satisfy my needs and therefore, I decided not to include them. However, I provided a bit of information what do these proxy sites do, are they useful, effective and more importantly, if they are safe.

Proxysite.com – It’s the most visited free web proxy browser on the web. However, there seems to be something wrong with their system when I checked it in May 2019. I can’t seem to access any website through this proxy and their system appears to be broken.

Webproxy.to – Another highly visited web proxy browser on the internet. However, this free internet proxy browser solely exists to monetize on ads placed on their website.

Proxysite.site – An ads driven web proxy browser that also exists to monetize their web traffic.

Note: This proxy website list will be updated from time to time and without prior notice.

Changing your IP address to browse anonymously on the web is a good way of unblocking websites in your network. It’s also a good trick to change your location when you access websites that you are not supposed to be accessed in the first from your location.

For instance, a movie streaming website called Popcornflix, this website does not play videos if you are accessing it from the outside of its available area which is the United States and Canada.

That alone is enough to frustrate you and make you find solutions you can do on your own without subscribing to any paid services like premium VPN account or premium proxy servers to change your IP address.

Clearly, you can use TOR browser or any web proxy available out there but they both have their own disadvantages which are not good for you in terms of user experience. On one hand, TOR keeps changing your IP address and running slow internet connection and web proxy, on the other hand, always have pop up or banner ads everywhere on a web page.

To get rid both of those disadvantages, you can check my list of best VPN for Chrome you can actually use and won’t leave you frustrated and at the same time, hopeless.

1. uVPN

uVPN has over one million users in its database and received over 18 thousand positive ratings from their subscribers. This Chrome VPN has definitely proven itself to be useful and working to conceal your online identity when surfing the web. However, you can’t use their proxy servers for Canada, France, Germany, the United States, and a few more countries unless you subscribe to their premium proxy server.

How it works:

  • Click on the power on/off button.
  • Select which country to be your preferred location

2. Zenmate

Another quite popular Chrome VPN is Zenmate with over 3 million registered users and rated at least 34 thousand users. Unfortunately, this VPN requires user registration even for Chrome and there are only a few locations available for a free account.

How it works:

  • Account registration is required.
  • Choose your preferred location among the four countries available

3. Free VPN

Our next VPN for Chrome may not very popular compared to other VPNs listed in this post but don’t let that fool you. This VPN is similar to uVPN in terms of appearance but in terms of available location to choose from, this included those countries that aren’t available in uVPN like Canada.

Rated by 1036 users and available in 19 languages, this surely a VPN that should work just fine for everyone. You can say yes to Popcornflix with Free VPN for Chrome.

4. Touch VPN

If the number is only the baseline to justify whether a VPN for Chrome is good enough, Touch VPN for Chrome might be your guy for the job. It has over 2 million users and rated by 65 thousand users from all over the web. Other than that, it shows you statistics such as bandwidth, internet speed of your connection and you can disable or enable other features for a better browsing experience such as ad blocker, cookie tracker and so on.

Unfortunately, despite all the features this VPN allowed to be available for Google Chrome, they only allowed at least 8 countries you can choose from as your online identity.

5. DotVPN

A permanent Free Chrome VPN with Adblocker and have been used by almost 1 million users and rated by almost 10 thousand users, DotVPN is definitely undeniable a popular VPN on Chrome.

However, similar to Zenmate, it also requires you to create an account before you can change your identity. Also, their available locations to choose from for your proxy server is estimated not more than 5 with each location contain one IP address only.

How it works:

  • You need to create an account
  • Choose a location available for a free account to change your origin

6. Hola Free VPN

Another permanent free VPN for Chrome available that I tested to be useful is Hola VPN for Chrome. This VPN has over 8 million users and rated by 300 thousand users proven to be very effective.

Their proxy servers are extremely useful an able to unblock websites that you can’t access from your network. However, they do require specialized proxy servers for websites that have extreme security protection like Google.com in which a premium account is required.

7. Hotspot Shield VPN

The best feature of Hotspot VPN for chrome is that you can make a list of websites you want to bypass and secure when your Hotspot is turned on/off. You can also see in the map which location you are browsing from in the eyes of websites you visited. And a total count of sites unblocked is also provided in your dashboard.

However, you only have a few locations available for a free account and you must not select the auto server for your connection because you will be asked to log in to a premium account. But despite all that, this VPN for Chrome has been used by almost 3 million users and rated by around 60 thousand users.

8. Windscribe VPN

This VPN is quite intriguing because there’s a limit of how long you can use their system to use their proxy servers for each free account. The maximum limit a free account can use is up to 2gb and after that, you won’t be able to use their system until you create a new account or subscribe to their service.

A good feature Windscribe for Chrome offers is that it detects if a website has trackers gathering your information and their own bias privacy score. Once you see all these information, you can decide whether you’ll proceed to visit the website or not.

Used by almost 900 thousand users and rated by almost 15 thousand users.

That’s it.

There are so many VPN for Chrome you can search in their market place but I fear they mostly require account registration or with only few available servers to cover your ass. These VPNs I mentioned above is a good start to enjoy browsing anonymously.

Setting up your very own wireless network (Wi-Fi) can sound a bit overwhelming, but the truth is it just takes easy steps to use your Wi-Fi efficiently. Of course, before setting up, you’ll have to familiarize yourself with the materials that you will be using: wireless router, your computer, modem, and two (2) Ethernet cables.

Step 1 – Finding the perfect location

Place your Wi-Fi modem in a spot anywhere in your house where it is free from any wireless interference such as but not limited to walls, windows, and even microwave oven. Some parts of our house are susceptible to blocking the signal that may constantly interfere with your internet connection so you should think thoroughly which place in your home gets the best signal reception.

Step 2 – Setting up the Modem

Turn off your modem before you connecting with your equipment. After which you may connect the ethernet cable to the router’s WAN port and then connect the other end to the modem.

Step 3 – Connecting your PC to the router

To connect your PC to the router, plug the end of the second ethernet cable to the router’s LAN port and then the other end to your PC’s ethernet port. You may now open your modem, router, and computer to set up your connection.

Tip: Choose a router that has WPA2 wireless encryption because this is the most secure and less likely to be cracked compared to that encryption such as WEP which can be cracked in few minutes.

Step 4 – Setting up the Administration Page

On your browser, key in the IP Address of your router’s Administration Page (e.g. 192.181.1.1). The login credentials should be with the manual provided by your internet service provider. Once you’ve logged in you have the option to change the username and password.

Tip: Use a strong password for your internet connection since there are now applications that anyone can use to obtain and share your internet access. This will lead to a slow internet connection even if you have placed your modem in the right place.

Step 5 – Setting up WPA2 Security

To enable WPA2 security for your Wi-Fi, go to Wireless Security Section and select your type of encryption. You’ll be asked to provide a password to ensure the security of your WPA2. After which, you can now change your wireless network name. From the default name of your Wi-Fi, you may change it by going to the SSID and putting in your desired name.

Tip: Some hides their SSID to refrain or hide the name of connection from anyone nearby your Wi-Fi. It prevents people from knowing that you have an internet connection and have an interest in hacking or trying to connect to it.

Step 6 – Setting up Wireless Adapter on the Computer

After performing configurations for your router, you may now unplug the cable connecting your PC to the router and plug in the USB or PC Card Wireless Adapter into your PC. Afterward, you may now connect your PC and other devices to the internet.

Tip: You may limit devices connected to the internet in order to minimize the devices who are allowed to connect to the internet. This can also eliminate unwanted users from utilizing the internet. All you have to do is go to the Security page from the Administration Page and key in all the IP Addresses of the devices that are allowed to utilize the Wi-Fi connection.

You should also frequently change your password as part of the security measure of your Wi-Fi. Aside from that, you may also want to have double firewalls aside from the built-in firewall your Wi-Fi already have to guarantee that any data you have in your PC or any information you’ve used while browsing will not be sent over the network of the internet without your knowledge.

Step 7 – Test your Wi-Fi Connection

Test the internet speed by browsing through the various website or through speed test available online for free. The internet service provider usually advices its consumer that for the first three to five days internet connection may be slower than the purchased Mbps. Monitor the speed of your Wi-Fi and if you’re still encountering complications, you may call your internet service provider to have this resolved.

When talking about online security, it is not a matter of free or paid. If your online privacy is on the line and it matters to you a lot, you don’t need to hesitate whether you need to use trusted or suspicious service. As the threats on the internet have developed over time, more hackers have made a sophisticated approach to penetrate websites, networks, and even servers to initiate their online crimes.

To prevent your online information ending up to the wrong hands, there have been some effective developed methods to do so. You can use a VPN, TOR, Web Proxy or even proxy server. Each has a different security level but all can provide single to multi-layer security.

The most common thought that always comes to our mind probably is to use a proxy. Since proxies are commonly used and a known method to conceal your IP, it’s become the most convenient way to change your IP, your location and identity online.

But the question is,

  • Is it safe to use?
  • Are you protected?
  • Can they locate you?
  • Do they disclose your information?
  • Do they save your logs?
  • Is your traffic encrypted?

These are very crucial questions that need some sensible answers because it is not a laughing matter if your personal information leak to the hands of people with illegal-mindset.

Is proxy servers safe to use?

The day when proxy has become badly needed by internet users, there had been a lot of proxy providers popped out everywhere. Meaning, you can use any proxy you can find available on the web and use it for whatever purpose you have in mind and replace it with another.

Changing your online identity from time to time is in fact, an ideal approach if you are really concerned about your browsing history or internet activities. There were thousands of different proxy you could use to hide your true identity and make you appear someone and somewhere else.

While we all believe this method is very ideal for many internet users, it’s not always the case. The more accessible it is for public use, the higher the risks it is associated with. This means this can be hacked by online hackers and steal your information or even stalk your online activities.

Are you protected?

Compare to VPN or TOR which encrypt your internet activities to maximum protection, not all proxy encrypts your connection and provide maximum service protection.

Can they locate you?

Yes, since not all proxy encrypts their connection, your online activities are clearly visible to the servers you visited.

Do proxy servers disclose your information?

There is no accurate answer to this. No security service provider will tell you for sure if your data is being disclosed, most likely they will claim it to be undisclosed.

Do proxy servers save your logs?

Why is it important to know? Because you need to know if your data is saved elsewhere or burned after you use it. Proxy service providers have disclaimer information whether they claim, what they do to the data they receive.

If you use proxy more often, you should not use a proxy that saves your data in a hard drive.

Is your traffic encrypted?

The simple answer is it depends. On one hand, If you are using a free proxy, most likely your connection is not encrypted. On the other hand, if you are using a premium proxy, then it is most likely encrypted.

Before you decide to use proxy to conceal your location and online activities, you should look into some of the information mentioned above. While it is not always important, depends on your purpose why you need a proxy, it’s better prepared than never.

Life on the internet nowadays can be risky – you’ll either found yourself getting bullied or harassed online or in a blink of an eye, your personal computer or devices are no longer working because it has acquired malware from an unprotected website, or worst comes to worse you’re account on several social media accounts have been hacked.

The hardest thing after such unfortunate circumstances is that you’ll found yourself clueless as to how you can resolve this matter. So before things get out of hand, here are some tips that you can practice to always stay safe online.

1. Don’t post your personal information publicly

Totally a big NO in the world of internet and social media, naivety and posting of your personal information just to get anyone’s attention or for any other purposes is not advisable. You may find yourself in the midst of scams, or people using your information to blackmail you in exchange of something you may not afford to provide. As much as possible, limit the circle of people you’ll be sending out your personal information.

Also, sharing your real time location isn’t a good idea at all. If you have stalkers, you are just giving them an open invitation to enter your nearby where you are.

2. Think Before You Post

Just always keep in mind that before your enthusiasm gets the best of you, everything that you have posted, from pictures to videos, even if you have deleted it a long time, it will be kept forever. Not only to the social sites, but someone out there may have actually downloaded or screen captured whatever it is you have posted.

Think that once you have posted something, it gets to be viewed and owned by public and the frenzy it may cause would be beyond your control. Since internet is a world wherein people share their thoughts and beliefs, you should also respect others’ opinion on different situations to avoid arguments that may result for your reputation to be bashed.

Also, if your online posts offended someone or it is against the law, you can potentially find yourself in a much big trouble.

3. Keep a Unique Password (and change it every now and then)

As much as possible keep your password as unique as it can be. Most sites suggest if the password you have provided is strong enough. Do not also give out the password/s you have on different websites especially to those people you really don’t know or you’ve just met online.

Some complications may rise if your passwords have been changed beyond your knowledge and you can’t get in touch with the people you believe know your log in credentials. But having a hardened password doesn’t mean it will never be hacked by anyone, so make sure that you occasionally change your passwords for safety measurements.

Most banks do this every 3 months to protect their client’s online banking access. While it is somehow inconvenient, you have to make sure no one can access your online information.

4. Don’t Talk to Strangers

We can also apply this rule that we usually say to kids. Be cautious as to whom you are talking to because most of the time, some of them isn’t actually the person they are saying to you. Some people has this technique of getting someone’s trust and eventually engage them in meeting up or other transactions that are deemed to be speculative. If someone expresses or puts you in an uncomfortable situation, you may either report it to avoid future conversations or tell someone so you’ll be able to assess on what actions you should take.

5. Clear your Cache

Probably one of the things we always forget to do after browsing the internet – cleaning your devices cache for it actually keeps track of you what you’ve done while browsing the internet. If you won’t clear your cache, people can actually look into details of your online activities every day.

Another option you can do if you always forget to clear your cache is to you incognito. This will not keep track of the websites you visit nor your online activities. So if someone else’s uses your computer or laptop, your activities will not be restored.

You can also use VPN, TOR or web proxy if you want protection not only in your network but also outside your network since these types of online security conceal your true whereabouts.

6. Never use a free Wi-Fi for confidential transaction

You may have been swayed by free Wi-Fi access in malls or your favorite coffee shop without being speculative as to what these institutions may get from your devices. Not only you’re putting yourself at risk, but you’re actually letting strangers get access into your delicate information that might cause you trouble in the future.

7. Always check if the website uses HTTPS

Always check if the website you’re visiting has the HTTPS, more specifically if it’s green coded, because sites without such precautionary measure will expose your transactions and communications with the website.

8. Avoid using Public Computers

Yes, you have logged out all your accounts or even cleared the history. But some computer shops uses software to save your passwords on the websites you’ve opened. So as much as possible, use your own devices when browsing online.

9. Use Anti-Virus Protection on your PC

Probably one of the things that you should never go out of your checklist to maintain safety online. Using a reliable Anti-Virus will inform you if a site may cause malware issues to your PC or it’s unsafe to browse. There are some anti-virus that offers either free or paid version, but will nevertheless ensure you’re safe surfing the internet.

10. Protect your network with Firewall

A firewall is an efficient comprehensive security software that has the ability to block malicious access to your personal computers and devices, thus protecting you from possible hackers that may have access to your confidential accounts and information.

You can also use firewall to block unnecessary websites from being accessed on your end to protect potential risks. The common websites you must block is of course, porn sites, messaging sites.

11. Smart Choice in Clicking Websites

Just because a website has something to offer that you’ve been wanting for so long or it has a freebies that you find interesting, doesn’t mean that your safety is not at stake. Accessing these sites and giving them the ability to know your IP Address and letting them have your information is definitely not a smart choice of keeping yourself safe online.

Always be cautious and be inquisitive as to why a person or a website needs this crucial information from you.

There’s nothing wrong in making sure that you’re safe online, but knowing the precautionary measures and doing nothing about it, or performing things online that might get you in trouble is an attitude that should be change over time.

Not only because we do not your information getting spread like a wildfire beyond your recognition, but also because the impact of such incidents might affect you physically and psychologically. Doing these simple steps signify that you are aware of your actions online and you uphold your reputation.

Pros of Using Public Wifi

  • Public wifi or free wifi gives you unlimited access to the world wide web.
  • Public wifi is free of charge and you can enjoy as long as the network is available.
  • You can watch videos, play music, games, download files from the web without any bandwidth concerns.
  • You can access your work email or your office computer to continue working even outside your office premises.

Cons of Using Public Wifi

  • Public wifi tends to become slower the more users it services because of data distribution for each request.
  • Public wifi is unfortunately available to everyone. Even to hackers who can mine account information from connected client devices.
  • Your device can be accessed remotely and access your files because your device address is disclosed to your network provider.
  • What you should access when you’re in unsecured connection

Public wifi or free wifi is indeed an unsecured connection. No matter what you say about it whether you like it or not. The fact that it is free for everyone to access, the chances of risks it has increases overtime whenever someone connects to it. Hence, you should be aware of limit your online activities when you’re connecting to public wifi or be aware of do’s and don’ts:

  • Do not login any of your personal account online when using public wifi connection.
  • Do not open file sharing on your mobile or laptop device to avoid potential risks

How to Stay Safe when Using Public Wifi

Use TOR Browser – TOR browser is an anonymity browser helps you hide and change your public IP address. This means, your location is also being hidden from the public and your internet activities as well. TOR is available on mobile devices and desktop computer.

Use Web Proxy Web proxy has the same behavior with TOR browser. The purpose is to hide your identity from the public eye and your online activities. However, there is no need for software installation in order to use this method as you only need a browser to get started. The difference between a web proxy and TOR is web proxy sites contain ads, TOR does not and TOR is way more secured than web proxy.

Change Your IP – Changing your IP address is also a good option to hide your online activities. However, there are only a few trustworthy and active proxy service providers. If you are not fully aware of the proxy server provider you are using, then don’t. Otherwise, you may end up being a victim of data mining scheme. So before using free proxies, you should do a little research.

Use VPN – Another effective method to hide your identity in public wifi is to encrypt your connection using a VPN. VPN is probably the most reliable anonymity you can use for all possible online activities for video streaming, file sharing, desktop remote access and many more. But VPNs are not free.
